The latest batch of buildings to be Lightning Broadband enabled takes the Australian non-NBN internet service provider's tally to 50; with dozens more projects currently in progress.
Another nine Melbourne apartment buildings have recently joined the Lightning Broadband connected family, representing an additional 533 apartments and 18 commercial spaces added to the company's impressive portfolio.
In total, around 2,500 apartments are now able to access the web at blistering fast speeds of up to 1,000Mbps through Lightning Broadband's Fibre-To-The-Building (FTTB) connectivity solutions.
CEO Jeremy Rich is very pleased with the latest milestone.
"Our apartment and commercial building services are really taking off as word travels of how good they are. Currently, we have another 35 significant projects at various stages of completion."
Mr. Rich is expecting 2020 to be a stellar year for Lightning Broadband, boosted in part by the company's ongoing expansion from its home state of Victoria into Western Australia, the A.C.T and New South Wales.
"And we're not stopping there in 2020," he said. "Queensland is also in our sights for this year".
What's so attractive to developers that leads them to ditch the NBN and instead use Lightning Broadband for their projects?
Aside from the speed the company is able to offer and its unlimited data plans - which act as a drawcard to prospective apartment buyers and tenants - integrating Lightning Broadband infrastructure in a new or existing building costs nothing.
"What we offer involves zero outlay for the developer, building owner or body corporate; potentially saving hundreds of thousands of dollars in project costs," states Mr. Rich. "Furthermore, we monitor, maintain and upgrade the equipment on an ongoing basis, also at zero cost".
Beyond Superfast Building Broadband
The company's expertise goes well beyond fast internet connectivity. An example of this is a project completed last year where Lightning Broadband designed and implemented a building’s internal telephony system, Wi-Fi solution and internal network associated with its building management system. This included security functions and climate control features of the building and all rooms.
