Connect your devices everywhere with eero 7

When you buy an eero device from Lightning Broadband, we’ll include a complimentary subscription to eero Secure for use with your Lightning Broadband internet service.

Step 1: Download the eero App   

• Get the free eero Wi-Fi system app from the Appstore or Google Play store.   

Step 2: Create an eero Account   

• Sign up using your phone number, email address, or an existing Amazon account (make sure it is an Australian Amazon account).   

Step 3: Connect Your eero device  

• Connect your eero device to your incoming data point (either a labelled wallport or an optical network unit) using an Ethernet cable plugged into one of the eero’s Ethernet ports.   

• Plug the eero device into power. The eero device LED will flash white to show it’s starting up.   

Step 4: Set Up Your eero Network   

• Open the eero app and tap “Start setup”, follow the fist few steps then the app will search for your eero 7. The eero will flash blue and then show a solid blue light when detected.   

• In the app, choose a location for your eero device and enter your preferred Wi-Fi name and password. This will allow other devices to connect to your network. Tap “Next” to finish the setup.   

Step 5: Expand Your Network   
(If you have purchased more than one eero otherwise click “Finish setup”) 

• When adding more eero devices, follow these placement tips:   

• Place the new eero between any dead spots and an existing eero to ensure strong coverage.   

• Avoid placing eero devices inside media consoles, cabinets, or behind large furniture.   

• Keep eero devices away from metal objects and electronics that could block Wi-Fi signals.   

To add a device to your eero network, open your device’s WiFi settings and find your network name from the list of devices. Once you have selected your network from the list, type in your network password. In just a couple of seconds, your device should be online.  

If you can’t remember your network password, you can get it on the eero app under Network settings.  

To create a profile:   

1. Go to the Home tab and tap the + icon in the upper right corner.   
2. Choose “Add a Profile” from the menu that appears.   
3. Enter a name for the profile.   
4. Select the devices you want to include in this profile.   
5. Tap “Done” to save your profile.   

To set up a guest network:   

1. Go to the Settings tab.   
2. Select Guest Access from the options.   
3. Switch Guest Access to On.   
4. Choose either Share QR Code or Share Wi-Fi Details to allow guests to connect easily.   

To perform a speed test:   

1. Go to the Activity tab.   
2. Select a tile in the Internet section.   
3. Tap Run Speed Test.

To check your data usage on your eero devices’ network:  

1. Go to the Activity tab.   
2. Select Downloaded Data to view overall Wi-Fi data usage.   
3. Tap Show Live Usage for real-time data usage, where you can see a breakdown by profile and device, organized by day, week, and month. 

To start a software update when available, follow these steps:   

1. Open the Settings tab.   
2. Tap Software Updates.   
3. Select Install Now.   
4. Review the update information, then tap Yes, update now if you wish to proceed.   

You can also choose your preferred time for automatic updates, with the default set to 2 AM local time.   

To adjust the LED light settings:   

1. Go to the Home tab and tap the Online bubble at the top.   
2. Choose the eero device you want to modify and select LED Light.   
3. Toggle the LED light to your preferred setting—either on or off.   
4. Tap the back arrow to save your changes.   

If you want to reset your eero router it is important to identify the why.   
Resetting your eero for troubleshooting should be your last resort, as this will delete all of your previous settings including Wi-Fi name and password, your eero Secure data and settings and more. This means you will have to walk through the eero set up.   

If you still want to reset your eero, please hold the reset button located on the bottom of the device until the light on the front starts flashing red. Ensure the device has been powered on for at least a full minute before doing so.   
   
Your eero is now ready to be reconfigured.  

To set up content filters:   

1. From the Home tab, select the profile you want to filter.   
2. Tap Content Filters.   
3. Choose the filter template you want and tap Apply.

To set up Internet backup:   

1. In the eero mobile app, go to the Home tab, tap Internet, and select eero Internet Backup.   
2. Turn on eero Internet Backup.   
3. Tap Add a Network.   
4. Choose your network from the list and enter the password.   

To activate advanced security:  

1. Go to the Discover tab and select eero Secure.  
2. Scroll down to the Network section.   
3. Switch Advanced Security to the on position.  

To block websites:   

1. In the Home tab, select the profile you want to manage.   
2. Tap Block Allow Sites.   
3. Select Add Blocked Site.   
4. Enter the URL of the site you want to block.   
5. Confirm by tapping Done.   

To block apps:   

1. From the Home tab, select the profile you want to modify.   
2. Tap Block Apps.   
3. Choose the apps you wish to block.   
4. Confirm your choices by tapping Done.   

To enable ad blocking:   

1. Go to the Discover tab and select eero Secure.   
2. Scroll down to the Network section.   
3. Turn on Ad Blocking.
